Born to Chinese-Indonesian parents, Sandy Widyanata is a German/ Australian filmmaker currently based in Los Angeles.

Sandy studied at the prestigious Australian Film Television and Radio School in Sydney, Australia.

For many years Sandy has worked as an animator, designer and visual-effects artist for Australia’s major post-production and animation studios. As a result her directing work integrates authentic and truthful performances with seamless animation and visual effects. With a focus on storytelling her approach is to make the post part of the idea, rather than overpowering it.

Her work enjoyed great international success on the festival circuit and won multiple awards. Sandy received a Visual Effects Society Award, which was introduced by Steven Spielberg. Other awards include an Australian Film Institute nomination, Australian Effects and Animation Award, Cannes Lions Young Director and Bronze AWARD.

She has a couple of feature films in various stages of development.
